Caprice Classic

singer ‱ songwriter

BIO – CAPRICE CLASSIC True to the meaning of her name, the music of Caprice brings a sudden desire to want to hear more. Her lyrics and melodies are filled with aspiration, soul, seduction and rhythm. A student and lover of life, Caprice conveys a new twist to old-school music. She grew up in Los Angeles, California, listening to the strong sounds of Motown. Influenced by The Emotions, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye, to name a few, Caprice has shaped a distinctive sound rooted in the soulful language she writes herself—expressions of a life well learned, lived and loved. Her ability to passionately portray intense life lessons that so many of us have experienced can only be conveyed as deeply and authentically by a woman of wisdom, experience and familiarity. Most notably, Caprice co-wrote “LA Girls” with Ruff & David Tort and Disciple, which aired in over 52 countries. “LA Girls” was also featured in an episode of MTV’s The Hills. Caprice has collaborated with members of Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, Bigg Slice, Snoop’s personal car designer, and Big Chan of Doggy’s Angels. Her live appearances include dates with Cedric The Entertainer, performances at the World Class Wrecking Crew and Watts Up Kennels, and she also completed a demo with Richard Cason called “Having An Affair.” Caprice studied under Shirley Brewer, a background singer with Stevie Wonder, to further develop her writing and vocal abilities. Caprice has been writing her own lyrics since 1998. She is not only a songwriter and vocalist, but also a natural student of the recording process, having learned her way around a recording studio and much of its equipment. Her dedication, curiosity and determination have continued to shape her musical journey. STILL CREATING. STILL GROWING. Today, Caprice is still writing and working on new material. Music will always be a passion of hers, and she understands that sometimes the most important work happens away from the spotlight. There are seasons when an artist must step back, sharpen the craft, grow, create and allow the music to speak before stepping forward again. For Caprice, stepping away was never about walking away from music. It was about taking the time to work on the woman, the songwriter and the artist behind the music. And when she steps back onto the scene, the reason for the time away will be clear. Caprice Classic is still creating. Still evolving. And still has more to say.
